Mt. Bental

Last sight we were able to go and see Wednesday, was Mt. Bental. It is one of the highest peaks in all of Israel. The Hermon Mountain range is the heighest range in Israel. It's highest peaks are actaually on the border of Lebanon and Syria, but Mt. Bental is the one of the highest in Israel. The other high one is actually not allowed to be visited by civilians, but is strictly a military intel mount only. The funny part is, the military mount is right next to Mt. Bental so we were able to enjoy together the same great view. Being on the top, you can see an amazing view of Lebanon, Syria, and on clear days Jordan. From just the lookout point, if you look at the bottom left picture, you can see the city of Damascus. The sign said Damascus was 60 km away and said Jerusalem was 155 km away. It puts Paul's Damscus road into real perspective. If he took that same route, then he traveled breathing hatred and murders, for 215 km (about 133 miles). Wow how hatred can be a motivation. It's such a challenge though, because if hatred can motivate like that, how much more should the Love He has for us compel us for His glory even more.
